Congratulations to Rowan Kinsella who last week became European Adaptive Champion 2025 in Italy, something her never thought could happen.
“Just over two months ago I was made aware of an opportunity for me to fight at a European championship for Great Britain due to the European Judo Union expanding the disability categories (level 1&2) who could compete this year at the adaptive judo Europeans.
Since then I have honestly worked my very hard, to prepare and be the best form I could be in with the support of Bradley Stoke Judo Club, Japan Arts Centre PSUK Judo, Sweat Box Judo Community and Patchway Judo Club Bristol South Glos and today that hard work paid off with 3 wins, 3 ippons all in a minute!
Honestly, I never thought I would be a European Champion in this sport and if you spoke to me two years ago I probably would have laughed but here we are… 2025 EJU Open European Adaptive Judo Champion in the under 73kg level 2 category!!
If you are an adaptive judoka reading this – put the hard work in keep going, enjoy and take every opportunity you can as this sport is growing and will give you the most amazing opportunities.
For me this rounds off what has been the best year in my judo so far, 2025 has truly been my year. A big thank you to everyone who has supported me and made this possible. Words can’t describe how grateful I am”
